"The former Binghamton University student found with multiple stab wounds last Wednesday in a wooded area in Vestal was attacked by two men while on his break at work, according to one of his housemates.

Jan DeAngelo, one of Isakhar Aminov’s housemates on Chestnut Street in Binghamton, said that Aminov transcribed the incident to him during a hospital visit. According to DeAngelo, Aminov is currently unable to speak, but doctors believe he will be able to in the future.

Aminov, 19, was found Wednesday, Aug. 27, in a wooded area off Brooks Avenue in Vestal with multiple stab wounds, according to a press release from the Vestal Police Department. He was a BU student from fall 2006 until last May.

According to DeAngelo, Aminov works at Chuck E. Cheese’s on Vestal Parkway East and was on break Wednesday evening when two men tried to throw him in the trunk of a car, stabbed him and threw him down a hill.

“It’s been pretty hard; I couldn’t imagine something like this happening to one of his friends, never mind Isakhar,” DeAngelo said.

Lt. John Taylor of Vestal Police told Pipe Dream Thursday that the case is under active investigation and declined to comment on any suspects or details. He could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Aminov was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit after the incident. A hospital operator who spoke to Pipe Dream yesterday confirmed that Aminov was still a patient, but declined further comment.

Sue Cudo, a Wilson nursing supervisor, told Pipe Dream on Thursday that Aminov was in critical condition.

He was discovered after the attack with the help of a Vestal woman, whose dog led her to a semi-conscious Aminov, according to the Press & Sun-Bulletin. Aminov told the woman that someone was trying to kill him and that the person was still around.

The woman said she didn’t see anyone nearby and called the police shortly after 5 p.m., according to the report.

Aminov was taking a year off from school, but planned to return to BU, according to DeAngelo. He was a computer science major.
