"Police have found no evidence to indicate a former Binghamton University student found with stab wounds in the woods last week was the victim of a crime.

According to a press release from the Vestal Police Department, the agency is continuing the investigation but currently have no proof to “indicate any type of crime was perpetrated against Mr. [Isakhar] Aminov.”

Aminov, 19, of Chestnut Street in Binghamton, was found Wednesday, Aug. 27, in a wooded area off Brooks Avenue in the Town of Vestal with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital.

He is currently in stable condition, according to a nursing supervisor who spoke to Pipe Dream under the condition of anonymity Thursday.

Reports from the Press & Sun-Bulletin state Aminov was found in the woods by a local woman with the help of her dog. When she found Aminov, he had wounds to his neck and arm, and told her someone was trying to kill him and that he believed that person was still in the area. The woman called 911 and Aminov was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

A student from fall 2006 until last May, BU officials said Aminov is not currently registered with the University.

One of Aminov’s housemates, Jan DeAngelo, told Pipe Dream Monday that the former transcribed the incident to him because he was unable to speak at the time. According to DeAngelo, Aminov works at Chuck E. Cheese’s on Vestal Parkway East and was on break when two men tried to throw him in the trunk of a car, stabbed him and threw him down a hill.

According to DeAngelo, doctors said Aminov, who has been unable to speak because of the injuries, should regain his voice.

Aminov was taking a year off from school, but planned to return to the University, his housemate said. He was a computer science major."
